A great white shark was spotted off of Key West by a captain while on a charter fishing trip.
"He swam right up to the boat, very docile," Capt. Jason Johnson, of Triple J Charters, said on Thursday.
Johnson described the shark as a "gentle giant," adding that the fish was "very curious."
"Most of the time when I see sharks, they are looking for something to eat. He didn't have any interest," Johnson said.
The shark was spotted six miles south of Key West on Wednesday morning, Johnson said.
Johnson said they were fishing for yellow tail snapper on the reef when they saw the shark.
